To steal a phrase from Sacha Blumen - “let the hungry decide!” why does Council take a year to decide if small business can provide late night snacks - and why are public servants taste testing?
not just me keen on a high line! #cos12
today the SMH has great pic of a proposed highline -such a good idea! herald article is at http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/push-to-recycle-monorail-and-let-city-enjoy-high-life-20120420-1xcff.html
a while back i posted on facebook suggesting the same thing and i made a submission to the 2030 consultation saying the same. So here it is Dani - proof!

unrg asked: Shooting at the car is one thing, but shooting to kill? It'd be ridiculous under any circumstances to immediately resort to shooting to kill when something goes wrong, and it's only made worse by the fact we're talking about children. I can't for the life of me figure out why the police didn't just shoot the tyres of the car rather than going straight for the *people*...
Why doesn't Mallard support Kings Cross police?...
I was gobsmacked by this exchange on facebook this morning
Shayne Mallard Police shooting kids driving a car on footpath is an outrage. And now charging those not shot is just plain stupid. But I agree on the time line issue!
James Morrow Shayne, they’d just run over a woman and dragged her under the car. You know how busy that area is. What were the cops to do? 8 hours...
First do no rent-seeking - my approach to #cos12
The Smurf has accused me of having of having no energy policy. Actually mine has been public for many weeks but since he’s only got one policy it may not have occurred to him a lesser mortal may have more.
He seems to be arguing that because he has decided to be greener than Clover that gives him the moral high ground.
I argue that his determination to outspend her with your money on...
Murphy's #cos12 energy madness will drive up City...
With as much fanfare as can be mustered in 140 characters ameron Murphy has released his energy policy.
If elected he will
“Mandate tougher energy efficiency targets in existing buildings including refurbishments”
Mandate “strict site specific energy efficiency measures”
Require “lower intensity fuels and electric power” in City vehicles;
Require energy...

From radio to tv not talking about #cos12
Good times with spreadsheets at fbi tonight and a great chat with All The Best who I’m looking forward to joining at Sydney Writers Festival.
Off now to talk about non council related issues with David Speers tonight - if you have tomatoes that are no good for eating I’ll be on at 8 on Sky
so-called work keeps interrupting #cos12
Great day yesterday catching up with the Mission Australia guys at the launch of their Michael project. Micha project which includes housing support looks to be obvious next step and a good piece of policy. lots of good coverage on radio so it looks like plenty of people are starting to see that homeless costs the community more than effective intervention.

@jasonclaremp on his strategy for getting stuck into gun runners - not too political just good sense. Better than some of the “he said, he said” going in NSW

In case I wasn't clear this isn't (just) a lark...
Thanks to some nice journalists calling today I want to be clear that
1. I realise the chances of beating Clover are slim (yuh huh)
2. I am very keen to be elected to a regular spot on Council.
On the principle of not believing everything you hear I don’t know if this is true but one journo told me today he’s having trouble getting commitments out of people to serve in a position...
